So.
Today is Monday, the fourth and final day of my Chongqing travels. I slept in late, after spending a long night of shopping on amazon.com after realizing that finding a winter coat and boots in a country of people half my size is next to impossible. Ting ting, Xiao tians girlfriend woke me to make sure that I didn’t want to come along with the rest of the crew to do some sightseeing; and I didn’t. Well I kind of did, but seeing as though I booked my flight for 5:10, and thought that I should leave at around 3:00 to get to the airport, I didn’t want to risk missing my flight and really, just wanted to do some wandering about on my own.
So after getting my fill of sleep and packing up my things I headed out to the street to wander.
I wandered, and wandered; wanted to take pictures of things, but couldn’t find much I wanted to remember…and so more just wandered. I stopped a few times to marvel at the copious amounts of people who surrounded me, stopped a few times to marvel at the raw pieces of meat hanging in the street, stopped a few times to marvel at the cacti, dried baby birds, water chestnuts, pointsettias, etc., etc., people were balancing on contraptions across their backs…maybe I should’ve taken a picture of that..but I didn’t.
After a few hours of wandering I stopped for something to eat and after reading on a sign a place that made Knife Cut noodles, I was sold. And ordered my favorite; hui de dao xiao mian…and when it arrived I had another thing to add to my list of why I don’t really like Chongqing, and before I made it home that list had grown by a few things.
1. There is no sun.
2. There’s something in the air; and you can’t see 100 feet in front of you.
3. It’s dirty. so. damn. dirty.
