St. Petersburg and Moscow.

Before getting into the real heart of Russia, to the places where we were to delve into the lives of every day Russians we were given the opportunity to spend a few days in two incredible cities just to look around on our way to our first ‘ministry city’, Perm.

My first stop in Russia was St. Petersburg, undoubtedly the most beautiful city my eyes have ever seen. While walking down streets my eyes couldn’t decide where to look because every building was incredible.  Every building unique. It boggled my mind.

I hear the summers are incredible and plan to go back to experience St. Petersburg in all it’s glory; if I thought it was stunning in the blustering snow, I can only imagine how beautiful it is in the long, clear, summer days.

And after less than two days, we said good-bye and boarded a train bound for Moscow.  We arrived late that evening after midnight; each of us carrying our hockey bags and backpacks on our shoulders (mine for example weighs in at between 45-50 kilos) and after a good half an hour hike we found our hostel in the heart of Moscow, with only sore feet and sore shoulders we unloaded our gear, and settled in for the day.

During our few short days in Moscow we saw some amazing sights, Red Square, dead Lennon, the Kremlin, local markets and had the opportunity to just wander.  Epic.

…and then we boarded a 24 hour train for Perm…interesting…
